Job Title: EMEA Controls Project Manager EMEA (Hybrid / Remote with regular travel to project sites across Europe) SalaryCompetitive + Bonus + Benefits Time commitment: 40 hours per week must have bilingual languages: English as well as Portuguese or Norwegian About the Role: A leading organisation AI infrastructure company is seeking a Controls and Automation Technical Project Manager (TPM) to support active automation and BMS projects across the UK and Europe. This role provides technical ownership and execution support for controls, BMS, and automation initiatives. The Controls and Automation TPM will operate independently, acting as a hands-on technical coordinator across engineering teams, vendors, integrators, and site teams. The role is focused on execution, alignment, and risk reduction rather than administrative project management. Key Responsibilities Automation & BMS Project Support Serve as the primary regional technical point of contact for automation and BMS projects across the UK and Europe. Provide coordination with European stakeholders, vendors, and integrators during local business hours. Technical Project Execution Support active automation initiatives including: BMS controls Leak detection systems Cooling controls integration Vendor-supplied automation packages Track technical actions, risks, and dependencies across multiple stakeholders. Ensure engineering intent, vendor execution, and commissioning activities remain aligned. Design Review & Vendor Coordination Review automation and BMS designs, control narratives, and vendor proposals for alignment with project standards and operational requirements. Coordinate between design, construction, deployment, controls, and operations teams to close ownership gaps. Engage directly with OEMs, EPCs, and automation integrators to resolve design and execution issues. Operational Readiness & Risk Management Support commissioning readiness, handover preparation, and operational alignment. Identify and escalate technical and execution risks early, particularly those related to: Leak detection response strategies Alarm versus automated shutdown behaviour Inconsistent implementation across sites Support the development and implementation of interim best practices until formal strategies are approved. Independent Execution Operate with minimal supervision. Manage priorities, coordinate stakeholders, and deliver outcomes without requiring a full-time management structure. Provide concise, actionable updates to project leadership. Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in automation, BMS, or controls engineering-related roles with strong project execution exposure. Demonstrated experience supporting data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects. Strong technical understanding of: BMS and PLC-based control systems Cooling controls and leak detection systems Vendor-led automation deployments Proven ability to work independently across multiple stakeholders and organisations. Experience operating effectively across UK / EU time zones. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a Technical Project Manager, Owner’s Engineer, or Controls Lead role. Experience coordinating EPCs, system integrators, and OEMs simultaneously. Familiarity with commissioning processes and operational handover. Prior exposure to European data centre deployments. Current UK or EU work authorisation.
